University is out for summer and now is the time to do you! Whether you are off travelling or enjoying your free time at home this summer, you’re likely going to want as much cash as you can get.

Being a student is hard work through term dates, so it’s important to enjoy your holidays and take the time to rest up as well as enjoy yourself.

Many people say that your university years are some of the best of your life, so we completely understand that you’re going to want to relish in any free time you have during your young years and make memories that will last a lifetime!

But we all know how expensive student fees are these days, not to mention the cost of living (and nights out!). So if you’re finding yourself a bit strapped for cash this summer, take a look at some of our top ways to boost your income.

Become a Local Dog Walker

Do you love our furry friends?

If you’re a dog lover, then there is no better way to make some extra cash than dog walking! You could posters up locally, or speak to your neighbours to find out how much interest there could be.

There are also a few great websites such as Rover that you can sign up to where people looking for your services are able to easily find you.

Start Online Tutoring

If you’re currently studying at university, then it’s likely that you’ll have already got great grades in your GCSEs and further studies such as A-Levels or BTEC.

So why not help others in the same position as you were, and make some great money while you’re at it? Online tutoring or even 1-1 sessions locally could be a great way for you to earn some extra money through the summer and can also provide you with experience that will benefit you and your CV.

Sell Your Books

If you’ve recently finished your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year at university – then you’ll know how many books you have to buy. And you’ll know how expensive they are!

Books can take a huge chunk out of your student loan. But once you’ve finished a year, it’s unlikely that you’ll never need the book again and people in the year below you will.

Selling your books online via Facebook student groups or eBay, for example, can be one of the easiest and quickest ways to bag yourself some extra cash this year.

Apply for Mystery Shopping or Market Research

A lot of people don’t realise this, but there are so many paid opportunities out there for mystery shopping and market research – and most of them don’t require any sort of previous experience.

You can sign up to various websites that specialise in market research and mystery shopping, and then they’ll get in touch with you when they have anything that will be relevant to you. And best of all, a lot of the time you don’t even need to leave your house to do it!

There are quite a lot of unpaid opportunities whereby you get to enjoy something such as a bowling game for free. But then there are also lots of paid opportunities where you could earn a lot more than you may think.

Become an Extra in Films

Ever fancied yourself as the next Leonardo DiCaprio? Ok, so you won’t quite make it as an actor or actress by working as an extra. But it can be a great way to make some extra money!

There are various websites online and companies that are there simply to find extras for films and TV programmes. More often than not, you simply have to upload a small portfolio including a bit about you and a photo of you.

And then they’ll get in touch for auditioning whenever they have something in your area!

Start Blogging Online

If you’re digital savvy with strong communication skills, then blogging online is another great way to earn some extra cash.

You can sign up to various websites such as People Per Hour, Fiverr, or Bark – and apply for various gigs, all at different price points depending on the niche and various other factors.

This could also be great experience for you for your career after university. Or you could even create your own blog about something you’re passionate about, and if you start generating a lot of traffic to it, then you could make money from this, too!

Become a Social Media Influencer

If you have a large following on Instagram and TikTok, then this can so easily be turned into cash. And lots of it!

Social media influencers have become among the highest-paid digital professionals in recent years.

If you have a passion such as homeware, clothing, makeup, fitness or even food – then by producing content around this topic, you could end up landing yourself some great paid promotions with other influencers and online stores through affiliate marketing.

Clean for Family & Friends

If you fancy yourself as a bit of a Mrs Hinch, then cleaning for family and friends could be a great way to boost your income throughout summer.

With the extra time you’ll have on your hands, you might as well put it to good use and we’re sure that you won’t be short of customers!

And if you’ve recently moved out of your own student accommodation for the summer holidays, then at least you’ll not have your own to worry about on top.
