We all know that buying gifts for people that already have everything can become very difficult and especially when you don't have an enormous budget for it!

Where do you even start? We all seem to splurge out a bit more on birthday presents and Christmas presents but cannot afford to be doing this all year round.

These are a few of our favourite gift ideas that ensure his wardrobe is top-notch - without breaking the bank.

1) A Belt

Belts are a necessity for everyone and they are not just there to keep up your baggy trousers! Any trousers that have belt loops generally should be worn with a belt. That is what the loops are for!

A leather-style dress belt with a frame buckle from stores like Ben Sherman would be ideal. This will bring the outfit together for either a smart or casual look and can elevate your whole outfit, without a hefty price tag.

2) An Overshirt

Overshirts have become a popular option over recent years instead of wearing a jacket or coat and can sometimes be purchased at a fraction of the price. Just check out places like Albam where you can find an overshirt for a bargain

Overshirts are often worn with a simple and plain top to bring the whole look together. When choosing the perfect one you need to think about patterns, colours and materials that are not limited to certain outfits or certain seasons. Check patterns are often more casual than the plain darker hues, that are usually worn for a smarter look.

3) Socks

Whether it is everyday socks you are after or thinking about brightening up the sock drawer with patterns and bold colours, multipacks are usually the best value for money. If you love a bit of colour in your socks check out Reef Knots, these will blow your socks - off – excuse the pun!

We have all been there when putting on your fave pair of socks and finding a hole in the bottom. You can never have enough socks! And as daft as it may sound, a good pair of socks can really make your whole outfit! Whether it's branded ones to wear with shorts or tracksuits or smart ones to wear with a suit, socks tell a lot about an outfit.

4) A Hat

Nothing can make a fashion statement quite like a hat! Large, small, baseball caps, flat caps, woolly hats and bucket hats are all the complete accessories for an outfit. They can take a basic outfit to a whole new level, and are generally pretty inexpensive to buy, just take a look at Weekend Offender for all your ‘hat’ needs!

Plus, hats don’t always have to be used as a fashion accessory, they come in good use when you are on holiday to protect your face from the sun or keep you warm in the winter months.

5) Jeans

Jeans are the most common item in pretty much any man's wardrobe. But how many should you own? You should aim for around 4 to 5 pairs of denim jeans. Investing in a good pair of jeans from stores like Kings Will Dream that can last up to 10 years is going to be the best way forward and the most cost-efficient.

Although they may cost you slightly more this time around, you will not need to replace them as quickly as you think and a good pair of jeans can spruce up any plain top or shirt.

6) Plain Tees

No wardrobe is complete without a pile of plain tees. By choosing plain tees you are steering away from the risk of mismatching with any wild patterns or bright colours.

Neutral colours are going to be your best bet as those types of shade will go with pretty much anything. Don’t always spend your money on branded tops either, as tees tend to be covered up by a blazer, jumper or overshirt. Play it safe with a good quality and versatile cotton t-shirt from a store like Joseph Turner that is low-cost and can be worn with pretty much anything!

7) Jewellery

Jewellery can not only make a statement with any outfit, but it can also be a really thoughtful gift, too.

Whether it's a watch, necklace, ring, bracelet or even cufflinks - jewellery can actually be a lot more affordable than you may think, especially if you take a look at stores like Boohoo Man. Sure, you can invest in a really expensive watch - but think outside the box and find cheaper ways to dress up an otherwise plain wardrobe.

8) Trainers

Trainers, just like a lot of wardrobe items, can easily be dressed up or down and can be worn with loads of other outfits.

They can be used for sports activities, paired with jeans, trousers or even a suit! Branded trainers again can be pretty expensive so look for discounts and buy in the sale. If you haven’t heard of Bad Rhino, you definitely need to check them out for trainers. Resale marketplaces are an ideal way of finding the perfect pair of trainers at a fraction of the cost, but of course, you may not want to gift a loved one with something second-hand.

9) A Scarf

Scarves are not just for Christmas markets and winter walks!

Scarves can be used to accessorise, keep you warm or just look good. Think about the material and what will be the most versatile. After all, you don’t want to be buying something that ends up in the back of the wardrobe. A camel-coloured wool scarf always looks great in the winter with a long coat, or you could pair a thin scarf with a shirt and jacket as a simple accessory. Check out Burton where you will find some classic scarves and accessories.

10) A Blazer

Blazers have to be the most versatile items in a wardrobe! This is due to how many different outfits and occasions they can be worn for and so have become a man (and woman's) essential to any wardrobe.

A little bit like an overshirt, blazers can be used as another option for jackets and coats. They can be worn with almost anything and makes the outfit look smart and classy without wearing a suit. Or for a smart casual look. Have a browse at stores like Jacamo where you can pick up a blazer to fit any man! A blazer is an inexpensive way to dress up a regular pair of jeans, t-shirt and trainers.
