As we hit autumn and winter and of course, the colder weather starts to creep in - it is time to start to think about how you're going to keep warm and how to upgrade your wardrobe!

Now, we don’t suggest that you go out and buy a whole new wardrobe from season to season. But there are a few staple pieces that can be easily integrated into your wardrobe to take you from autumn into winter with ease.

Trainers

First up, we’re sorry to say it but it’s finally time to put those crocs away guys!

You may have been living in crocs and sliders all summer long and as comfy as they may be, as autumn begins to creep in, you’re going to want footwear that’s a little more practical for the colder weather.

Rather than diving straight into boots, a nice pair of trainers can be the perfect option throughout autumn and into winter. They can be worn with basically anything, in almost any type of weather and can be pretty inexpensive. Just check out Boohoo Man if you are on the lookout for new boots or trainers at bargain prices.

Hoodies

Is there anything better than a big, warm cosy hoodie?!

A hoodie can be worn with literally anything. It can be worn with jogging bottoms to the gym or with jeans for a casual day-to-day look. Whatever size or shape you are, whether you like oversized or snug-fitting hoodies just take a look at Jacamo where you will find something to suit you.

It also makes the perfect staple piece for transitioning to winter as it can be worn on its own throughout the mild autumn months and then can be layered with a jacket or gilet as the weather turns cooler.

Don’t forget to check out Bad Rhino’s hoodie’s if you want something trendy but still functional for the winter.

Gilet

A coat but without the sleeves – what better way to transition from autumn to winter?!

Gilets have become a super popular addition to everyone’s wardrobe recently, and are the perfect item to throw on with a long-sleeved top when it’s getting a little chilly outside. We love Burton who have a great range of Gillets to suit all weathers.

You can choose a padded puffer-style gilet for the colder days, or a lightweight gilet can be a perfect way to layer an outfit when it’s not quite ‘coat’ weather yet.

Trench Coat

A trench coach is an absolute staple for any man’s wardrobe as we transition from autumn to winter!

This is a longline coat that is generally made of a heavy-duty waterproof fabric to help keep any of that pesky rain off you. Take a look at Albam at their line of stylish coats and jackets to get you ready for the winter.

The most popular colour for a trench coat would normally be a neutral shade of beige as it will match pretty much any outfit and can easily be taken from day to night from a casual to a smarter look.

Overshirts

Overshirts have become a popular option over recent years as we transition from autumn to winter, instead of wearing a bulky jacket or coat. And they can sometimes be purchased at a fraction of the price! We love the range of shirts and overshirts at Weekend Offender, if you love a trendy vibe you definitely need to take a look here.

They are often worn with a simple and plain top to bring the whole look together. When choosing the perfect one you need to think about patterns, colours and materials that are not limited to certain outfits or certain seasons. Check patterns are often more casual than the plain darker hues, which are usually worn for a smarter look. Ben Sherman have a great range of shirts and overshirts that will suit any personality or occasion.

Blazers

Blazers have to be the most versatile items in a wardrobe! This is due to how many different outfits and occasions they can be worn for and so have become a man's (and woman's) essential to any wardrobe.  We love Joseph Turner’s stylish blazers, you have to check them out!

A little bit like an overshirt, blazers can be used as another option for jackets and coats. They can be worn with almost anything and makes the outfit look smart and classy without wearing a suit.

Or for a smart casual look. a blazer is an inexpensive way to dress up a regular pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and trainers – and to keep warmer on a winter night out.

Woolly Jumpers

Whether you’re looking for a layering item under your blazer or gilet in the colder months – or you’re just looking for something nice to wear on a night out, a woolly jumper can be just the ticket this season. For versatile jumpers we always take a stop at Reef Knots as they always have a great range to pick from.

A woolly jumper is super versatile and will be a statement piece when the cold weather hits as it can be worn with literally anything! Think of plain dark colours that will look great with any colour of jeans.

Scarves & Hats

Scarves and hats are not just for Christmas markets and winter walks!

Scarves and/or hats can be used to accessorise and give you that little extra bit of warmth without being overbearing. Think about the material and what will be the most versatile. After all, you don’t want to be buying something that ends up in the back of the wardrobe.

A camel-coloured wool scarf always looks great in the winter with a long coat, or you could pair a thin scarf with a shirt and jacket as a simple accessory. As for hats, we love Kings Will Dream, they have a trendy range of stylish hats for all occasions.
