No business can run without stationery! Even though most tasks are done digitally nowadays, it is still very important for any modern office to have stationery on hand for each employee.

When most people think about stationery, we only think of things like pens and pencils. However, there are loads more stationery items that are essential to any office that you probably won’t even notice.

If you’ve recently opened a small office, then it’s important to have a checklist of items you need to purchase so that you don’t end up over-ordering or find yourself being short of anything.

Or if you’re an established small office, then you’ll already know how easily these small items can go missing within the workplace! So it’s a good idea to keep a list of what exactly your office needs, and keep a record of how many you have so you know when you need to stock up on more.

1) Pens & Pencils

These are generally pretty low cost, and more than likely will go missing more than anything else! So it’s a good idea to stock up from the outset. You can save even more money if you buy your pens and pencils with our discount codes for The Pen Shop.

If you love being organised with to-do lists, then highlighters will be your best mate! They’re also a great tool for picking out any important information from documents.

And no matter how much you ask your staff to put the lids back on properly, permanent markers and whiteboard pens seem to dry up so fast! So make sure you keep those stocked up. Our go-to place for the best range of highlighters and marker pens has to be WHSmith.

3) Staplers

4) Calculators

Most people use their phones or laptops for a calculator nowadays, so you probably don’t want to purchase too many of these for your office.

However, a physical calculator can definitely come in useful if you have a lot of calculations to do all at once, especially for anyone in a financial or accounts team.

5) Paper

As we’ve mentioned before, most things can be done digitally nowadays and it’s extremely important that offices support the environment by keeping their amount of paper usage down to a minimum.

However, there are always going to be times when paper is needed, especially for printing. You can check out Paperchase for some great deals on paper.

You should always encourage employees to recycle pieces of paper where possible, though, by using the backs of sheets of paper to take notes rather than using an unused piece.

6) Notepads

A wall planner is also a good way for transparency within the team to let everyone know about anything that’s going on that week. Whatever your requirement, Clarisworld has tonnes of diaries and planners for your perfect fit.
