It's finally coming round to that time of year. The days are getting longer and warmer, which means you can finally start spending some time outside!

The warm weather has such a positive effect on everyone, it’s no surprise that we all want to embrace spring from dawn till dusk.

Until we can sit outside around the BBQ till the late hours, bringing spring into your home is a great way to take full advantage of the season!

Adding some season relevant décor, or just ensuring your home gets as much natural light as possible, can help create a wonderful springtime feeling in your home. Find out how you, too, can bring the outside inside this spring - without having to break the bank.

1) Play Around With Earthy Tones

There are so many ways you can update your interior décor to match each season.

If you’re looking to bring spring into your home décor, a simple way to do this is by updating your paint colours. Check out Dunelm for modern and fresh paint choices.  We'd suggest focussing on the room that you will spend the most time in, whether that be your living room or kitchen.

Adding earthy, springtime colours such as sage green or sandy beiges will update your home’s colour palette and make it feel warm and bright.

If you’re not looking to start in the paint section of your local DIY store, try adding seasonal accessories to your home such as canvasses, spring scented candles or a new rug from Kukoon Rugs.

2) Add House Plants (Real or Faux)

House plants are a guaranteed way of making your home feel full of spring!

Try and keep to flowers and plants which are in season at this time of year, such as daffodils and tulips.

The colours of these types of plants will add brightness to your home and having flowers as part of your day-to-day space will help create a calming atmosphere.

Don't worry if you’re not particularly green-fingered, faux house plants do the trick just as well! Alternatively, if you are short on space, you could still add some greenery by adding a forest or leafy wall mural from I Love Wallpaper.

3) Utilise Natural Materials & Patterns

Another great way to update your interior décor for spring is by adding a touch of natural materials and patterns into each room.

Textures such as rattan and bamboo are often readily available at this time of year and can easily be introduced into your home. Take a look at Nkuku who have lots and lots of earthy and eco-friendly homeware additions.

Floral and leaf patterns are also a springtime staple. Cushion covers or bedding are both great places to start, you can also update these each season to give your home an easy and affordable update.

4) Breathe In Fresh Fragrances

We love fragrances in the home year-round and it’s so easy to get scents to match each season.

Whether your preference is reed diffusers, plug-ins or candles, Candles Direct have you covered and by adding one to each room can bring spring into your home in a completely different way to décor.

If you’re on a budget, stick to downstairs where you spend the most time, especially at this time of year.

We'd suggest opting for fragrances such as fresh linen and florals, these will help bring the warmth of spring into your home so easily!

5) Let Natural Light Flow In

If you’re in the market for a new property, look for homes with big windows and patio doors that allow so much of that spring sunshine in!

Want to update your current home? If you’re looking to make big changes and you have a slightly larger budget, upgrade the door to your garden to large bi-fold doors. All the natural light will bring that lovely spring sun straight into your home!

Alternatively, there are small changes that can make a big difference in your current property. Look for light-coloured, thin curtains or blinds from Make My Blinds for your home to allow as much daylight in as possible.

6) Choose Calming Artwork

Artwork can be a great and cost-effective way to make a big change in your home.

Especially for spring, we would recommend soft, calming colours such as pastels or earth tones.

You can also look for seasonal imagery to help bring a little springtime indoors. Scenes like beaches or floral fields will help create a calming environment in any room. And to give your wall art some extra glamour check out Pagazzi and pick up some cosy lamps or uplighting to really create a calming room.

Updating on a budget? You can always find great deals on artwork and décor with our amazing codes.

7) Use Natural Hard Flooring

Particularly in the spring and summer months, nothing brings the outdoor in more than hard flooring.

Carpets are too warm and when you’re going from outdoor to inside all summer, are a pain to clean! Hard flooring such as wood and tiles keep your home nice and cool during these warmer months. Check out SCS who frequently have sales available so you can pick up new flooring or carpets at bargain prices.

They're also so easy to quickly mop down when the family have brought half of the garden in on their feet! If you’re looking for new flooring in your home and are considering hard flooring, try sticking to natural, neutral colours like grey or light brown.

8) Add an Orangery

If you’re looking to really update your home (and add lots of value!) - consider adding an orangery.

Orangeries are a massive selling point when you eventually look to move and will provide a welcoming and warm space in your home during the warmer months. And don’t forget to check out World of Wallpaper for all your wallpaper needs to make sure that space is warm and inviting.

Not only this, but an orangery actually adds space to your home. All that glass will allow for so much natural daylight, making the most of the glorious springtime sunshine.
